We've set up the atWar Translation Project on the PO Editor website.
We now have our very own Translation Tool!

It's all very simple. If you would like to help, follow this link:
http://atwar-game.com/locale/

Apart from much appreciation on our side, top collaborators will be rewarded with huge amounts of ProtoCoins and a trophy!

If you couldn't find your language in the list - no worries, tell us and well add it there.
One important thing to mention is try not to exceed the length of the original text in your translations, otherwise it may not fit. If in doubt, try finding the text in game to see if there's any extra space left.

We finished %88 of translation. We're planning to finish all tonight or tomorrow but there are still errors so we'll fix them. Can you let us use it like German? So we can test it : )

Sure, I'll add it tonight for you to test.

There's no final date. I'll add it once you fell it's good enough (or earlier if you wish to test it), so there's no rush.

Just asking, how you plan to manage the +/-15 new language? You clearly don't have moderators for each of the language. New moderators?, language lesson to the actual mods? something like the language forum with a delegate between the mods and the foreign language users?

Also french should be done tonight.

Translating in Portuguese ( :

By the way, I've been asked by players if we could do mock languages, like leetspeak (13375P34K) and pirate. Would that be possible? Who else would want to help with those? (:

@Amok: 'Afterwind' is a proper noun and is not translatable. Besides, translating it would miss the point, which, in this case, is providing a little nostalgia for older players. Please remove the leading _ (if you use Gettext that is). Also, this website is kind of lame, couldn't you have gone with Transifex? (it's what every Rubyist uses so it must be right, plus I've used it myself and it's a brilliant website)

Portuguese of Portugal or Brazil???

Also in portuguese we have 2 different ways to adress people: one we usually use with friends/brothers/younger people, and another we use to parents/teachers/elders...

Which one do the admins prefer to use?

Well you don't have to translate it. There's no leading _ in it. Transifex is only free for open-source projects, and I actually like POEditor better, it perfectly suits our needs and is really easy to use.

Amok what about the words that exceed the allowed length, some can't be shorten or translated in other way.

You can exceed the length for some words where there is enough extra space. However, in some places, like small buttons, there's just not enough space.

Transifex actually allows proprietary hosting though you're meant to pay for it. The software is just superior as well and has a better web interface. I especially love the fact it allows you to open the .po (or .ts, or Ruby, or whatever) file in an offline editor like Virtaal (I'm a power translator).

Also, you should SERIOUSLY support plural. At least for the language I'm trying to translate the game to, the translation quality is lowered somewhat due to the lack of plural support for units. I'm not asking for inline plural or anything crazy like that. But plural for units would be nice and now you have a good excuse to implement it (however boring the task is).
