Have you ever read Stoic literature? I'm no stoicist myself, but I don't think you're leveling a very good critique here since you seem to take one sentence and interpret it a bit too literally. Stoicism taught not to ''turn the other cheek'' but to remain unbothered by things out of your control. Marcus Aurelius, a Roman emperor known for savage persecutions of Christians was a famous Stoicist philosopher, yet he wasn't some pacifist. The Stoicist would be try to remain unbothered if someone hurts them, but only hurt them back if they deem it necessary and not because of a reflex due to pride or temper. Not every strike back is profitable. To give an extreme example would be if some silly kid tried to attack you. Would you slug him? You might if you're that bad at controlling yourself, but a regular person would remain 'stoic' and probably scold or restrain him maturely. You also misjudge the Russian Revolution a lot. First, I have no idea where ''60 million'' comes from. I've seen this number as a stat for Stalin's purges iirc before soviet documents were declassified. Second of all, the White Russians didn't just take it like pansies. It was an all-out war with the Whites fighting until their last men in Crimea. The defeat was from more fighting for the Reds than the Whites.
