Hi guys,

What's the community's opinion on wallf*cking late joiners on their first turn?
I know the large majority condems wallf*ck on turn 1, but ... what if a player joins on turn 6, can I send a unit close to his cap on turn 6?

Thanks

Edit: my intuitive opinion, without much reflection, is that we should be able to wallf*ck them (because ... I find that late joiners destroy game balance ... although, if I join a game allowing for them, too bad for me), but ... I wanted your opinion

Less of a dishonorable move, but still dishonorable. As you pointed out yourself, if you join a game that allows LJ, it's on you to prepare yourself.

I don't think it is that bad, if they have joined next to you on t5 then it is their fault, also they have a massive advantage if you don't since their units will be concentrated.

To be fair though I don't play many games where latejoin is possible

Depends on how annoying they are.

I agree. That's exactly what makes me hesitate. I don't really think that late joiners can win games at equal talent (on a general basis), but they can definitely ruin YOUR chances to win the game, if they start beside you. It's like an open door to unfairly targeting an opponent just for the fun of ruining his game. So I am not sure i can look at the dilemma from the honor angle only, like what brianwl and I briefly discussed above. It has to be looked at from the fairness angle, and I would be tempted to believe it is not fair to simply let players late join and take advantage of all the honorable treatment that players joining on turn 1 deserve.

Anyways, in my case, problem is solved: the late joiner did not wall on his first turn

But ... I am sincerely not sure what I will do in future games...

I agree, if a player is trying to ruin game, it may be a bit different. Do what you can to survive i guess. But then you are talking about a late join past T5 in a 50k game, and by then, you shouldn't have any neutrals bordering your territory unless the player late-joining is retaking a neutral of a player that just left or was defeated.

I still maintain dishonour is not the way to defeat dishonour - i can't recall ever losing to a latejoiner in this manner.

It is a distraction, but there is something exceptionally satisfying about defeating a latejoiner who borders you.

I do not share the same sentiment as Brian, I believe if someone decides to LJ close enough to me that i can WF, then they should expect it since they missed T1.

I don't know if you showed wrong the idea or if I'm reading wrong. Anyway, I will tell my opinion in the 2 cases:

1. If latejoiner player picks country and casually I leave a wallfuck in his capital not knowing he was gonna join there, it's okay, because he latejoined, that's a direct consequence of it. Like Sid said.

2. If latejoiner player starts turn and he can wall his cap, why should I wallfuck him. Let him play at least. Like brian said.

PD: But if latejoiner's a cunt who you hate for being in fact a wallfucker, I'd say do it.
