This is not so simple case, so we cannot pick a country that easily. Anyways, I will give you my opinion with short description for each because I am too bored to go in long discussions about economical and political situation of each Balkan country. I separated Balkan countries in 3 ways: - Countries that will strenghten again and more - Countries that will stagnate for next 10 years - Countries that will face the crisis So lets start with Turkey, cuz clovis mentioned it: Turkey - Not on Balkans (just a small part left from Istanbul), but will be bombed by Putin anyways cuz of that plane. GGnoRE COUNTRIES THAT WILL GO STRONGER: - Croatia - Greece - Slovenia Croatia has potentials to feed more than 15 000 000 people (Croatia has 4 500 000), which is number bigger than 3x Croatia. It has survived a big war during 1990s, it has survived a big crisis during 2000s and it think now is time when Croatia will become stronger than ever. Even at this moment it is, with Slovenia, one of the most developed (probably the most developed) countries on Balkans. All we need to do is to clean the rest of old mafia and criminals in our political scene who have thrown us into crisis. I expect a 'big positive boom' of Croatian economy and life standard. Slovenia is one of the smallest Balkan and Europe countries but it has strong organisation in every area. They dont have as much potentials as Croatia, but they are taking maximum of potentials they have (Alps, tourism, agriculture, ...) Whatsmore, their political scene is pretty good and they didnt have to face big crisis as Croatia. I really feel they will continue being goodstanding Balkan country. Greece is a country who survived one of the biggest economical crisis ever. They touched the bottom and every further step is step forward. By good organisation and hardwork, I expect them to become again what they were before. It will be a slow process and it will take years and years, but I really expect them to refresh all their areas again, especially tourism which was ruined by crisis. COUNTRIES THAT WILL STAGNATE: - Serbia - Romania - Macedonia - Albania Serbia has a good industry, but it wont help them to become stronger. They are also ruined in almost every area, so they will just stagnate for years until they face big crisis which will be solved by radical political reforms. After that they may go stronger, but until then no. Romania will stay as it is now. I really dont see their big jump in positive way, neither big fall in negative way. Macedonia same as Romania. They are organised enough, but atm not possible to do any bigger move which will lead to rising of their country in any way. Albania is very poor country and is placed on pretty unfhankful teritory without some strong potentials. But, I dont think they will go in some bigger crisis or starvation, they will just live type of life they were living till now. They will continue to have big big majority which is poor as fuck, but small minority who are rich as fuck. COUNTRIES THAT WILL FACE THE CRISIS: - Kosovo - Bulgaria - Montenegro - Bosnia and Herzegovina Kosovo is independent now, but on unthankful teritory same as Albania and part of Serbia. I dont think they can survive more than 10 years without falling. In my opinion, they would functionate better as part of Serbia, than as independent country. Lets see what will happen. Bulgaria is going down last years (correct me if I am failing, but I have read that somewhere). I dont see some very perspective future for them. Montenegro is also falling in economical area. They were living of tourism which is still strong, but is falling in last few years. Serbians are rather going on trip in Croatia than in Montenegro as they were going before. Too expensive for what you see there and for what is it giving to you. Bosnia and Herzegovina is artifical country made as buffer zone between Croats and Serbs, West and East, Catholic and Orthodox. It is old Croatian teritory and there are theories how first Croatians were located in current teritory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Almost all Croatian kings in their kingdom have had Bosnia and Herzegovnia and I will never accept it as anything else than Croatian teritory. Today majority in region of Bosnia are Bosniaks and Serbians and Croats are majority in Herzegovina. But put that on a side now. It is country of 3 nations/3 religions. Bosniaks - Muslims Serbians - Orthodox Croatians - Catholic It is very poor and cannot functionate like that forever. Whatsmore, I dont want to predict anything, but there were cases and famas how ISIS members are located and supported in Bosnia by some radical Bosniaks there. I dont see a bright future for Bosnia and Herzegovina and I think Croatia should wisely decide who to support in future about Bosnia, Bosniaks (Many muslims in Bosnia are Croats who gone to islam during a history) or Serbs (Who are against radical islamization in Bosnia)... What will be there, we will see soon
