Not really. It is a well thought strategy getting sympathy everywhere. Just like Axe. To attach a cause to the brand is quite clever; now they just have to be consequent with their sayings. Besides, P&G has been moving causes for a while.

I do think heat has a point here. Whatever the message is, guys all around have definitely taken offense to this in certain ways. I've heard plenty of it on campus where I'm at school. It does appear that they isolated their target population to try and be "trendy." Look, the message in of itself isn't bad, but it was delivered in a way that attacked males. It came across as if males have been barbarians forever, and suddenly now in 2019 someone decided to make a change! Excuse me wut

The thing is, males are suppose to be barbaric. Testosterone makes us strong and sort of violent, this is all natural and it is a guidance for survival, if we were to be so weak and pacific, we would've been extinct. We as men are no different than any other animal, just because we happen to be the smartest of them all does not mean we need to contain the ape within' us. If we were still primal these people that have made this advertisement would've been exterminated a long time ago by work of nature, mankind's intelligence is the reason their ancestors survived long enough to create the betas that have made this advertisement.

But they are just a company that sells razors, who are they to lecture the whole male sex? Just out of the blue, Strange, bizarre and overall hating trendy thing that's been happening for the last year or two for some reason.

Very weird, who even let the green light go on this? I mean a few years ago this was all jokes and laughs, but now it's creeping into razor companies, video games and movies/everyday TV/News....

Why? No need for it, it's very mind boggling

Male feminists.
This is obviously retarded, since at most you're appealing to 10% of the market, while antagonizing a lot of right wingers, which is a much bigger part of the market.
The only way to rationalize this ad is the idea that "all publicity is good publicity". In this regard, the ad got spread around the entire world, so if this premise was true, then the ad was very successful. I think there is such a thing as bad publicity though, and that's exactly what Gilette invoked here.

Suuure, you didnt get offended when they called out your ''toxic masculinity''? Theres 0 victim complex behind it because look at the traction the ad is getting, people are repulsed by it for a reason. Anyway if you didnt feel attacked then youre a soyboy leftist with no backbone, or you did feel attacked but didnt stand up for it, fearing judgement from other leftist soyboys or feminists. This ad goes down that spiral and its pretty obvious.

I heard somewhere that Gillette was abusing child labor a while back(Don't know if true) they are just a razor company jumping on the band wagon of this "toxic" word thats been trendy for the last year or so...For some reason.

Also it seems the guy was just walking towards the woman then another guy physically intrudes him. Obviously the guy had bad intentions (Because thats what the ad wants you to think)

The advertisement was a terrible ad, it wants to say "Stop bullying" then only shows and HEAVILY implys "It's all men's fault, stop being men, stop with this "Toxic" masculinity"

Whatever the hell "Toxic masculinity" even is..What is it? Can we make an advertisement about "Toxic femininity"? I guess not, it would go on for 12 hours and of course would be, without a doubt simply "Sexist" and nothing more. But when it comes to men, it's all debatable.

Why?

The ad was clearly sexist, Strange and overall uncalled for. If you want to make an advertisement about preventing bullying, then do it... That's not what the ad was about however, it was about "men being toxic" And don't say "In your opinion, yeah"

No.

That's not my opinion, they said it, showed it and implied It.

That is the message of the ad though, if it wasn't, then why not just make an ad about preventing bullying? instead they lump the "toxic masculinity" in and seem to be men bashing. Why? Just make an ad about stopping bullies and fighting, instead of trying to lecture all men and about this stupid phrase "Toxic masculinity"

Seriously, hop back into 2009-11 you would never have heard this phrase "Toxic masculinity" or this "SJW" term. This decade has been an earsore, eyesore an overall a pain.

"Never Underestimate The Power Of Stupid People In Large Groups."

Social Media and these stupid people are to blame. This decade is full of them thanks to the internet, and now it's creeping into real life.

Why? This decade truly is the decade of stupid.

Gillette is a brand (the razor brand) of Procter and Gamble (P&G).
There is an increasing demand on companies to stop doing business as usual and take social and environmental stances.
P&G has been working on its value chain to adopt sustainable practices: "do business without doing harm".
Social (and environmental) challenges demand the involvement of the private sector to solve the problems; Global Compact, UN strategy on Business and Human Rights, OCDE regulations on multinational companies... even the Sustainable Development Goals are reflect of this. It isn't just "trendy", but a whole movement.

Ofc. this is the line of the ad; it implies that the guy had no good intentions (but to harrass the woman) and the other guy just tells him not to do. This is what a friend does, when he thinks the other will do something uncool.

That's exactly what the ad isn't about. Three "types" of masculinity are shown: the "toxic" one, the "I don't get involved" one and the "sane" one. In this sense, it shows that NOT all men are toxic!

Tarafından yazıldı DeepFriedUnicorn, 16.01.2019 at 17:47

Why?

Read about sexism and the (deadly) consequences for women.
Women and poverty: 70% of the adult poor are women.
Single mothers: 25% of children in the US are raised by single mothers... most of them do not have regular contact to their biological father.
In Latin America 4.000 women have been killed in the last 2 year by the hand of their partners or ex-partners.
Rapes on US university campuses are increasing.
Wage gap between women and men (doing the same job) still is around 20%.
Etc.

Why is it so difficult to show solidarity and empathy for those populations that suffer more than the rest?

And yes, there is probably something like "toxic femininity"... it is when women reproduce sexist stereotypes!

Tarafından yazıldı DeepFriedUnicorn, 16.01.2019 at 17:47

Sorry, but your opinion cannot be lifted to an universal truth. It will still remain "just" your opnion... possibly shared by a vast majority here.
Why you feel so ofended by this ad? Do you feel aluded by it? Why?

Wage gap between women and men (doing the same job) still is around 20%.
Etc.

Why is it so difficult to show solidarity and empathy for those populations that suffer more than the rest?

And yes, there is probably something like "toxic femininity"... it is when women reproduce sexist stereotypes!

Sorry, but your opinion cannot be lifted to an universal truth. It will still remain "just" your opnion... possibly shared by a vast majority here.
Why you feel so ofended by this ad? Do you feel aluded by it? Why?

Also Ana kasparian, really? She is very contradicting, a laughable journalist, name calls men and women who voted differently than her...And of course. In denial of the armenian genocide.

Had to google this lady. Don't know her; did I cite her?
If she denies Armenian Genocide, then she's wrong.

"There is an increasing demand on companies to stop doing business as usual and take social and environmental stances."

I agree with the environmental stances but when it comes to to social ones, not so much. It can be a bit annoying when a big company tell's a group of people how they "should" live and how they "should" communicate and how they "should" do this and that, socially.

They need to stop virtue signaling and just sell their product... That's it. "Don't be bad" Yeah. Yeah we already know that...Sell your product and stop lecturing me.

"It isn't just "trendy", but a whole movement."
Yes, A whole trendy movement of Toxicity.

"That's exactly what the ad isn't about."
I disagree. We already know not to be rapists, women beaters, name callers and bullies.

Yet the ad Force's it that most men are, and we'll just all brush it away with the saying "Boys Will be boys" They need to sell their product and not jump on the trendy band wagon.

"Why is it so difficult to show solidarity and empathy for those populations that suffer more than the rest?"

... It's not.

I'm not sure what you mean by this
"And yes, there is probably something like "toxic femininity"... it is when women reproduce sexist stereotypes!"

Offended by the advertisement? Not... Necessarily. A bit yeah, but more so it's like an itch I can not scratch.
"Toxic masculinity" seems to be a saying made up be extreme feminists and extreme PC and SJW like culture is making it's way into real life now, news and TV shows. It's a bit annoying. It's like I can't say the quote "Struggle is manhood" to myself anymore because I'll get shouted at by extremist, yelling the same old same old, "Your toxic" "Stop saying "Manhood", it's "Humanhood""

Offended? A bit, feels like I'm being intruded on by all these extremist. And it's only in the last 3- 5 years all this PC culture has been taking effect, stand up comedians are getting fired/let go and getting shouted at Because they made a joke, My own Prime minister has Sayed that a certain group of people a certain teaching organization (If I remember that it's actually a teaching one) should only be able to hire female applicants, it's effecting video games, Political parties/speeches.

All because I'm a man I must feel bad? All because I'm a man we as a society must enable extreme feminists?

"Had to google this lady. Don't know her; did I cite her?"

I was referencing her to show how bad the advertisement is.

 Dave (Yönetici)
Any gents here ever try holding a door for a lady, only for the woman to get offended and say something to the effect of "I can do it myself"?

Has happened to me a couple times, here in California.

The lesson? Chivalry is dead, because women killed it.

I really feel sorry for the next generation of boys growing up, who will all be assumed rapists and thugs... unless they demonstrate their "wokeness" to the satisfaction of the PC commissars (who will never be satisfied).

"Those who criticize have not stopped to think that the ad is inviting the viewer to identify with the 'other' men, those who try to stop fights, avoid situations of harassment of women and defend the victims of 'bullying'."

"Gillette's ad speaks of real masculinity. It does not deny the strength of men, but invites them to use it to stop fights, not to create them. It does not deny that a men like women, but invites them to show their love for them by stopping the slugs that harass them."

Interesting your reactions. Who has backbone?

What is referred to as "avoiding situations of harassment" is literally portrayed in the film as "stopping your bro from approaching women in public".

Approaching for some, attacking and harrassing for others... the guy sees the "female" and moves as if he's going to attack her... IMO.

And of course. In denial of the armenian genocide.
