Disadvanteged position - two fronts (europe)

I noticed that specially on the european map the best positions are really at the edge of the map... In this case countries like Germany or Italy are in a disatvantage... (two front war...)
I thought that either having some computer bots playing in russia (and pirates, hurricanes, earthquakes or whatever) having countries which can be invaded but not controled so they will always fight back at a low level... or giving these countries an advantage, but just if someone has his capital there if not it would be too and the game would be somehow like "king of the hill"...

There are things like alliance and peace proposal??

I start in Austria all the time and never have a problem fighting two fronts, you just have to be fast.

Germany is in a pretty good position as you have a nice shell of cities and small countries around you to protect you... and a huge population and wad of cash (access to the Scandinavian countries, remember?) to go with that!

But Italy is truly disadvantaged. Someone playing as Portugal with Naval Commander will have utterly smashed you by week 10. However, Greece, Turkey and countries in the Balkans are never huge threats for Italy, it's mainly France and Portugal/Spain but they are so dangerous that you could compare it to fighting on two fronts..

Week 10? you could hit italy by week 3-4 if you get spain and barcelona.

Sure, but don't forget Rome is not a port... and it will take one a few more weeks to get to that because Spain doesn't have huge troop numbers.

But still, Italy will definitely be gone from the game by week 10. Even if Portugal's in the hands of the greatest of noobs.

Despite the fact, that I don't like Italy (and sometimes Germany) because of its disadvantageous position as well...
(Especially at short turn times you might be in trouble, because troop management is everything in the center of Europe. But nevertheless, if you make it to built up a nice empire in mid-Europe, it is really nice to play)

I totally agreed that germany souldn't be any stronger!
but what about going back to WWI or WWII the GDP the game is based on was totally different... so what about creating a WWI/WWII-mod with a different map saying countries like the austia-hugarian empire and the Zar russia... etc. there could be colinial gameplay i.e. "setteling" in africa... Its the changing of a few frontiers and gathering some data... (the data could be difficould for WWI, if we dont reduce the map to europe and africa)

...you can still attack rome, make a transport, put 10 tanks on it, dock it on land close to rome, move said to tanks to rome. Done.

Edit: using great combinator, you load a transport with 10 tanks and 5-10 infantry, then attack rome. done.

Thats exactly what i do XD

The believe the best way is to make the map bigger. like adding North Africa and middlu east puts an end to 2-sided frontal war. Also Italy needs more cities! I did the thing i said first and added new cities to italy on my custom present Woder Europe. I think Genoa and Venice should be included on Italy
