I have been inactive some months, but I checked the forums today and saw something about an upcoming feature enabling map-makers to ban people from their maps. That is definetly something this game needs, but here is an alternate way to do it. Everyone starts out as a Class A Member on all maps. When someone breaks the rules on a map, the map-maker can demote them to a Class B Member on his maps. Both Class A and Class B members can host and join games featuring any custom map/scenario, but if you are a Class B member on the map you want to play on, you can only join and host Class B games. Class A members on the other hand can join and host both Class B games and the exclusive Class A games which only Class A members can join. This allows players to play without scumbags while at the same time not banning or completely isolating the scumbags. The map-maker promotes and demotes members at its own discretion. Everything in this topic ©®™ btw sooo gg wp no re

That's nearly the same as simply banning them from the map. If it is a major offense, they have to be taught a lesson or just simply don't allow them to ruin everyone else's fun. A minor offense, perhaps a simple warning from the map maker before they get banned next offense, or atleast have a chance at debating their case through a PM. But still, implementing this seems to be more difficult than just implementing a ban list that nearly does the same.

Nearly the same? Imo this is much better, although idk about how hard it would be to implement.

Hardly better, the class B people will just be trolls and retards. So there would be games filled with trolls and retards.... that's really not the point.

Class B people make a game ...then everyone says huehuehue and leaves turn 1 -___- EDIT: this was a joke above, mocking trolls and leavers

Why do you care about about B games failing? They are all criminals who get happiness from trolling and breaking the rules, so let them do it, agaisnt each other We can even have a Class C if neccessary. Then if there really are any B people who wants to redeem themselves and play properly, they can report the rule breakers in B games to map-maker. I read that some people were afraid of giving too much power to the map-makers. This solution reduces the ability to punish people, while at the same time protects people from trolls as much as a regular banlist would do. This isn't worse than the banlist, so why are you against it?

Interesting idea. Let the sumbags know how it is to get trolled. Why didn't I think of this?

It would actually be harder for admins to make and would be more buggy and weird

We should have an admin confirm that. But if Ivan could make it work properly, it would been better.

Any egotistical mapmaker can still, with this method, ban a player whom he or she doesn't like.

the idea proposed takes less effort and programming and is no where near done 6 weeks into it. this would just take years at the admins rate.

I had proposed a similar way to handle this, but according to Ivan, the banlist was going to take less time to develop.

No, they can't ban anyone. The players they demote can still play their maps and scenarios.
