Only crazy trolls can nominate him for player of the year. He play one game per month and theres not even single r. to nominate him for this.

How about Amok? Technically hes an inactive player right now so, it works.
Dude gave up on something he created and nurtured for years, and even tho he couldnt give his 24/7 always, if you think he didnt love this game you're a fool.
To me, he did the biggest sacrifice to keep this game alive.

Mod - Sultan of Swing: Met the dude personally (well, as personally as the internet allows) and he seems swell. Stayed loyal to the game despite the discontent of the last twelve months, helped players of vigorously, and stayed transparent the entire time to machinations occurring last Autumn.

Player - Tbh no one on this game sans the Mod team ever does shit for this game outside of twenty-minute UBB-ridden forum threads describing how to take a damn screenshot. (The fact you promoted this guy is hilarious). I would vote for Dave as well, but I'm not sure if I can vote for an admin. So I'll throw my vote in for Big Angry Tree, he made everyone's Autumn far more amusing : )

Mod: Eagle - because he has been extremely active and is fair and been real in every situation and many other reasons...
Player: Sascha - obviously , the player that supported the game the most with tourneys and help in any way , nice player to have as friend , its good to see he got mod now

Completely agree with Witch-Doctor (is that even possible?). Both Eagle and Nifty deserve such nominations. The most active mod and the most active mapmaker (used to be :'(...) are definitely worth being players of the year.

As for the rest, I'd say PoTY or MoTY has really lost its meaning for quiet some years now. The criteria for either is somewhat vague and totally not representative for the title they get, and the comments above proof this. Judging from the comments in this thread, its fine to grand someone a PoTY for playing maybe 30 games throughout the whole year and someone a MoTY, eventhough that person is a mod for barely 1/4th of the year.

Ivan and Amok definitely deserve POTY

Eagle or Acqui for actually being cool mods that act like adults in the way the deal with things and conduct themselves, and for actually playing.

Brianwl: Unbiased mod, plays the game, hes gonna help you all the time, actually gives you a real reason for any action done by the mods no vague bullshit and ive got a feeling hes one of the very few educated mods currently.

Apocalypse: A great personality, plays cws, constantly helpful to newbies, does a great job and probably the only guy who does work for the supporters, i know this because him and wheelo basically do all the work in the atwar press.

The staff that make tournaments are not the programmers. Those are 2 VERY different teams.

Thank you, finally a vote.

I was a mod for 9 months during 6 of which I was the main active 1 in game. I was freaking managing player disputes while playing america and japan in ww2. I even got WW1 restored after months of nothing being done. For a year I pushed for strat changes while clovis fought me every step of the way and dicked around with the mapeditor constantly extending the due date. What do i get as thanks for my efforts?

A demotion on claims that I was harassing players without a single shred of evidence.

The only acceptable alternative to me this year is eagle.

And here I am and i see all these votes for sultan?!?!?! Dont even get me started on him. Things will be said and I'll get banned,

In the mod choice i'm stuck between Brian and Sultan. They both are extremely helpful and even if they don't believe in what they're protecting, they'll protect it with their life. Even though both are amazing I'm going to have to choose Brian.

For the player choice, Mr Nifty needs to get mentioned here. He tried his best to support the community and he was one of the only active mapmakers until he left because of mod abuse. He spent countless hours making every detail in his maps and without his hundreds of maps, atWar would be very different. I know many people would rather choose others because of their popularity this year or they're drama, but Nifty deserves a massive mention. This is my choice.

I agree if nifty truely has retired then he should get player of the year due to all the time invested in map making and hosting games for all ranks

As for mod I also believe that noob sultan deserves it

Player - Nifty. He's been extremely active pooping out maps nonstop. Constantly stir up great conversation and keeps the game interesting. This game would honestly be more dead without him. Sad he decided to quit so we should give him POTY to honor his legacy.

I second this. Despite my personal "distaste" (might be a word too strong?) for how he made maps and doubting on the quality or excellency of his maps (I do consider his maps to be endless replicas with slight edits and name-differences), It must be acknowledged his commitment to the Mapmaking Cause this recent past and his individually-supported efforts to keep "AtWar on life support" was indeed beneficial to help a section (no matter how small that was) to cling on to the game, until now. Even if he won't be around, as far as I've been told, to honour a possible prize awarded to him for the upcoming year of 2019, It'd still be a great show (and very rare) of gratitude by the community to award him POTY18, honouring his legacy and recognizing the contribution to the Mapmaking Cause, that undoubtedly helped in keeping some of the playerbase around. In addition, it can also be a gratitude to the other mapmakers around (forgotten by the community, entangled in drama) who continued to edit, publish and create maps to renovate these dark, stinky waters we were dipped in for the past years, no matter what the map genre was.

As for MOTY18*, It seems redundant to discuss who was the better mod, as they all work for the sake of a collective good, and the good work of one, is necessarily the good work of all of them (with special mention for the active ones, of course). This would made bigger sense for the Supporter Team, or whatever, but often "bad" mods tend to be the ones who fought for rules the most, honestly..too subjective to name one. Nonetheless, Laochra would be a strong name to consider, no matter what happened, due to his engagement with the scenario community (no, Aetius does not count, let's not get started on that xd) regarding WW1 and other maps and his presence with the community, even if purpose-driven to pacify a section of the playergame who "felt" unrepresented. Such efforts did help to smooth some tempers and restore some order there and that's for his personal, direct contact there that should be remembered and displayed with such a distinction. Because there's really nobody else that actively stood among custom map players in 2018, let's be frank..
