Today, October 4th 2015, Elections were held in Portugal, where 16 political parties ran to become the next ruling party, altough only 2 would get to be in the government.

The Socialist Party of Portugal, the 2nd biggest political force, had huge probability of winning the elections, due to the fact that the ruling government, made of a coalition between the Social Democrats and the Christian-Conservatives was the one who had to deal with the IMF, impose austerity and impose wages cuts and etc...

Socialist Party Candidate, who made impossible promises of which the Portuguese people believed, but in the end, the overall electorate didnt fall for his bullshit nor his petty socialism:

Our re-elected prime-minister:

This is not a thread to glorify anything, but to prove that despite the fact an unpopular government, like the Coalition government of SD-CDS (Conservatives) can still be reelected.
A government who imposed unpopular and cruel economic measures, to reverse the tendency for recession and impose economic growth in our country, having to respect a deal the Socialist government made with IMF, to get the necessary funds to get the country going, was re-elected.
The ongoing prime-minister, Coelho made History by becoming the first political leader to be re-elected, after imposing harsh austerity and wage cuts and sending some people to poverty.

This proves also that the people isnt stupid, and doesnt go after false promises.

I like how nazi/nationalist and communist/socialist parties promote one-party state and no elections, but then they sign up for elections so they can get into parliament.

Portuguese Socialist Party and the whole Portuguese left-wing is made of cancers and heavily anti-salazarism degenerates, they can't run a government properly, Communists were in a coalition government in 1975 (right after they deposed the semi-fascist successor of Salazar, Caetano, who actually agreed to democratize the country, but NO, they had to make a coup d'état..) and they managed to lead our country to disgrace, so we had to later call the IMF in 1980.
Socialist Party led the country again to disgrace so we were forced to call IMF in 1983.
Socialist Party led the country again to disgrace, under the leadership of a Prime-Minister who is now arrested accused of corruption, and we were forced (they called them) the IMF in 2011.

So, Portuguese right-wing=Best.

I hope other european states follow the path of Portugal and dont elect people they will regret in the long run

The European Commission is all happy now and congratulated Passos Coelho for his victory, he made history by becoming the first political leader (of atleast in europe) to be re-elected even tho he imposed impopular measures like the (necessary) austerity.
This only shows Rajoy in Spain is all happy that he now has a chance of being re-elected by presenting 2 realities: Those who follow IMF and EU programs like Portugal, get successful, those who dont, like Greece, fail.

The only options for government change are democratic election or violent overthrow. What else would you expect them to do? Even Anarchists run for office with the goal of removing it.
