What's a good strategy for Switzerland?

I understand it's low on unit mass, but in a standard Eu+ I'm sure it gets 7 - 24 units.
All the suggestions so far and none ever include Switzerland, to my knowledge.

For a standard EU+ it pulls a decent unit count, but it's really not recommendable as you're likely going to be competing heavily over Germany, France, Benelux, and Italy since West Europe contains almost all of the good starting positions, most of which require your only expansion points as Switz.

That being said, I feel that Perfect Defense (for holding your territory against all odds) or Desert Storm (for expanding into Germany / France more easily) are the only viable options as Switz.

EDIT: It should also be noted that Desert Storm sucks ass against SM, your most likely opponent, so perhaps PD is the wisest on second thought.

Best tactic for switzerland is to take austria.

if u mean in a 5k game, then i suppose Belgium would be a better alternative.

Just because someone has played and won as a country doesn't make it a good starting country. I've played and won world games solo as Albania, doesn't make it that good.

I know that. I'm just trying to give AirForCe an even more extreme (in my opinion that is) example of a smaller country...

Depending on the game mode, I would categorize it as less extreme. It does have nearby very weak countries it can expand to (Belgium, Netherlands, and Switz), while Switz has only Luxembourg and Belgium. But Luxembourg also spends much less money starting off.

If it was a 5k game, I would pick Luxembourg over Switzerland any day, though Belgium would still be better than that in my opinion. If it was any other game, then I would pick Switzerland simply because you could take three cities in Italy (Rome, Turin and Milan) with the extra units you'd get from other players.

^ dnt forget that you're limited by reinforcements, in a 5k fame there is merely an increase since all would have low # of reinf. , starting in lux is a disaster, you'll have the money, but wont be able to spend it. oh well, thats just my opinion.

In regular, Switz also only gets 1 reinf. In +100, Switz gets two, but still, my point is more of that neither is that good of a place to start
